Tragic Collision Between Hanif and Golden Line Buses Claims One Life

In a tragic collision between a Hanif Paribahan and Golden Line bus, the driver of the Golden Line bus, Bachchu Sheikh (48), lost his life in Kalukhali Upazila of Rajbari district. At least 11 others were injured in the incident.

Details of the Incident

The collision occurred on Saturday night around 11 pm on the Rajbari-Kushtia highway in the Goriyana area of Kalukhali Upazila. Bachchu Sheikh, the deceased driver, was a resident of Moncher in Faridpur district. Among the injured were Sumi (40), Harun (50), Jannatul (38), Shamim Reza (39), Abdullah (7), Hafizul (60), Kamal (35), Ruman (25), Harun (30), and Niyamat (55).

Chronology of Events

The Golden Line bus was traveling from Barishal to Rangpur, while the Hanif Paribahan bus was en route from Kushtia to Dhaka. The head-on collision left both buses severely damaged, trapping the two drivers inside. Additionally, at least 10 passengers from both buses sustained injuries in the accident.

Emergency Response and Medical Treatment

Local residents rescued the injured passengers and initially took them to the Kalukhali Upazila Health Complex. From there, they were transferred to Rajbari Sadar Hospital for further treatment. Fire service personnel managed to extricate the trapped drivers from their seats and rushed them to Rajbari Sadar Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors at the hospital declared the Golden Line bus driver dead upon arrival.

Dr. Shaon, an emergency department physician at Rajbari Sadar Hospital, confirmed that the Hanif Paribahan driver is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. One critically injured individual was transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for specialized care, while the remaining injured passengers are receiving primary medical attention at various healthcare facilities.
