Jashore’s Top Terrorist Brother, Rakib, Shot Dead in Assassination Attempt
In a shocking turn of events, Jashore’s notorious terrorist, Rakib alias Vaipo Rakib, was shot dead in an assassination attempt by rival terrorists. The incident took place on Sunday night at 10 pm in front of his own home near Shankarpur Sar Godown More.
Local residents immediately rushed him to Jashore General Hospital for initial treatment, and later, he was transferred to Dhaka for advanced medical care. Rakib’s father, Kazi Touhid, revealed that Rakib had left home at 10 pm. At that time, a group of individuals, including Kazi Jalal’s son Tarek, Tarek’s son Tanvir, the area’s veterinarian Eskon, Eskon’s son Yasin, Altu’s son Anik, and Iman, fired two bullets at Rakib’s chest before taking him to Jashore General Hospital. Due to his critical condition, he was referred to Dhaka for further treatment.
Expert Commentary on Rakib’s Condition
The emergency department physician at Jashore General Hospital, Dr. Jobayer, mentioned that Rakib was brought to the hospital within minutes of the incident by his family members, who were visibly distressed. Initial assessments indicated that he had been shot twice in the chest. However, his condition was not deemed critical, as Rakib was conscious and able to speak. The medical team has not ruled out the possibility of providing him with medical treatment.
Police Investigation and Suspects
Jashore Kotwali Thana’s Officer-in-Charge, Kazi Babul, identified Rakib as a prominent terrorist in Jashore with numerous cases against him. Following the incident, the police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
Local sources suggest that individuals involved in the incident were Rakib’s accomplices and residents of the area. They were reportedly engaged in a dispute over drug trafficking, leading to the assassination attempt on Rakib.
Previous Criminal Cases Involving Rakib
According to the police, Rakib was a prime suspect in 14 cases, including murder, terrorism, and criminal activities. Last year on February 10, in an incident near Jashore Railway Station, Rakib and several terrorists attacked and fatally stabbed Jumman Hossain. This incident led to Mamun Hossain filing a case against Rakib and 13 others at Khulna Railway Thana.
