So, like, there was this big shindig in Panchagarh, where the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) held their two-yearly conference for the Panchagarh Sadar Upazila branch. This conference has been going on for, like, a long time, and at the second session, they elected Abu Dawood as the chairman and Mahfuzur Rahman Babu as the general editor using ballot papers with 710 delegates exercising their voting rights.
On Saturday night, the newly elected committee’s president, general editor, and two organizational positions winners were announced by Farhad Hussain Azad, the editorial and district BNP member secretary. They have been directed to submit a full-fledged committee to the district BNP within the next 15 days.
Earlier that day, the first session of the conference kicked off with the raising of the national and party flags at the Panchagarh Government Auditorium courtyard. Jahirul Islam Kachu, the coordinator of the Panchagarh district BNP, inaugurated the two-yearly conference.
During the conference, leaders and supporters from the 10 unions of the upazila and one municipality gathered at the auditorium courtyard with banners in hand. On the open stage of the auditorium, Anwar Hossain, the coordinator of the Panchagarh Sadar Upazila BNP, chaired the discussion meeting with Sekendar Ali as the secretary, where Barrister Mohammad Naushad Zamir, the international relations editor of the BNP’s national steering committee, and the chief speaker, Farhad Hussain Azad, the editorial and district BNP member secretary, along with Abdul Khalek and Aminul Islam, the co-organizational editors of the Rangpur division, took the floor.
Later in the afternoon, during the second session of the conference, 710 delegates exercised their voting rights through ballot papers to elect the chairman, general editor, and organizational editors of the Panchagarh Sadar Upazila BNP. Two candidates competed for the chairman and general editor positions, while four contenders vied for the two organizational editor positions. At this point, supporters held the candidates’ handbills in hand and cast their votes according to the serial numbers.
In 2009, the Panchagarh Sadar Upazila BNP held its two-yearly conference, where Abu Dawood was elected chairman and Anwar Hossain as the general editor. Later in 2020, Anwar Hossain was appointed chairman and Sekendar Ali as the member secretary to form the coordinating committee.
So, like, that’s the scoop on the BNP conference in Panchagarh, where leaders were elected and committees were formed. Can’t really say why this matters, but that’s the news for you. Until next time!
