Sheikh Hasina’s Illegal Assets Under Investigation
So, like, apparently the Corruption Commission started looking into the illegal assets of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after the uprising, you know. On Sunday, May 18th, the Commission received information that they are starting this investigation.
The Commission has hired Masudur Rahman as an investigator to look into Sheikh Hasina’s illegal assets. He will lead a team to do the work. The investigative team of the Commission will examine Sheikh Hasina’s stable and unstable assets along with issuing a notice for asset details.
Before this, the Commission started investigating multiple allegations of corruption such as fake plots, foreign money laundering, and embezzlement in projects, you know. In addition, previously, when charges were filed in the fake plot case, the court issued an arrest warrant against Sheikh Hasina.
On August 5th last year, after the uprising, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina became powerless and sought refuge in India.
Not really sure why this matters, but yeah, that’s what’s going on with Sheikh Hasina’s illegal assets investigation.
