In a daring raid, the Kotwali Model Police in Sylhet apprehended two notorious arms dealers equipped with a deadly knife. The incident unfolded on a Sunday afternoon around 3 pm, inside a dilapidated building near the city’s court premises.

The suspects, identified as Sayedul Islam Sumon, a resident of Sirajganj Upazila in Sylhet, and Salam Molla, hailing from Tarabunia village under the Bandaria Police Station in Pirojpur district, were caught red-handed during their clandestine operation.

According to Mohammad Saiful Islam, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (Media), the arrests took place inside the broken building, directly opposite the sweepers’ lane, under the jurisdiction of the Kotwali Model Police Station in the Bandarbazar area.

Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the culprits were involved in multiple cases of theft and arms smuggling. Legal proceedings are currently underway to bring them to justice, as law enforcement authorities work tirelessly to dismantle illegal arms networks in the region.
