Two Arrested for Organizing Feast with Stolen Cattle

In a shocking turn of events, two individuals have been arrested in Madarganj, Jamalpur, for allegedly organizing a feast using stolen cattle. The incident took place during a gathering of a women’s group, where the accused individuals were planning to serve food to the attendees.

Details of the Arrest

The arrests were made on Monday afternoon in the Adarvita Union of Madarganj Upazila. The suspects were identified as the son of Abdul Majid Mandal, a resident of the Koyra Bazar area, and Mukta Chowdhury, the general secretary of the local BNP.

According to the police and local sources, the suspects stole a cow from the residence of Eftaj Mandal, the son of Samsuddin Ali Mandal, a butcher by profession, on Friday night. The stolen cow was later slaughtered and prepared for cooking by a meat trader named Fazlul Rahman.

Community Response and Police Action

The incident came to light when Eftaj Mandal noticed the missing cow on Saturday morning and initiated a search in the area. The local community gathered at his house upon learning about the theft. They eventually identified the stolen cow by its distinctive features in the possession of Fazlur, the meat trader.

In response to the situation, enraged locals went to the residence of the BNP leader to protest, prompting them to report the incident to the police. Subsequently, the police arrested Sumon Mandal, a youth group worker, and Fazlul Rahman, the meat trader, and seized the cow hide, head, and some meat from their possession.

Official Statements

Speaking on the matter, Mukta Chowdhury, the general secretary of the BNP in Adarvita Union, expressed his acceptance of political resistance. He claimed to have been unfairly targeted and persecuted in the case.

The local BNP leader, Manjur Kader Babul Khan, stated that Mahbubul Hasan Mukta has been suspended from his position pending further investigation into the allegations of party misconduct. The final decision on his permanent expulsion will be communicated within seven days.

The Officer-in-Charge of Madarganj Model Police Station, Hasan Al Mamun, confirmed that a case has been filed regarding the cow theft incident and two individuals have been arrested. Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the crime.
