In a shocking turn of events in Satkhira, a husband has been accused of brutally beating his wife to death over alleged dowry demands and domestic violence within just three months of their marriage. The accused, identified as Amirul Islam (23), has been apprehended by the police following the heinous crime.

Details of the Incident

The tragic incident took place in Madhabkati village of Jhaudanga Union in Sadar Upazila in the early hours of Tuesday. The victim, Khadija Khatun (19), was the wife of Amirul Islam from Madhabkati village and the daughter of Siddiqur Rahman from Narayanjole village. Amirul Islam is the son of a resident of Elai Box in Madhabkati village.

According to the victim’s relative, Monirul Islam from Narayanjole village, Khadija married Amirul Islam, the son of Elai Box in Madhabkati village, just three months ago. However, after a few days of marriage, Amirul began pressuring Khadija to bring two lakh taka as dowry from her father-in-law. When Khadija refused to comply, he subjected her to physical and mental torture. Following a heated argument on Tuesday night, Amirul brutally assaulted Khadija with a stick, causing her to collapse on the ground. He then suffocated her to death by pressing a pillow against her face.

Furthermore, after committing the crime, the assailant, Amirul, exhibited signs of mental instability and began vandalizing his own home early in the morning. Upon learning of the incident, locals managed to apprehend Amirul inside his house and later handed him over to the police.

Police Confirmation and Legal Action

Confirming the tragic incident, Officer-in-Charge Saminul Islam of the Satkhira Sadar Police Station stated that the police have arrested Amirul Islam in connection with the murder.
