new-political-party-formed-with-ancient-political-deals

A new political party has emerged at Chittagong University, led by the Nationalist Student Council’s general editor, Nasir Uddin Nasir. The party claims it cannot tolerate any minimal criticism and tends to justify its mistakes by pointing out similar traits in ancient political parties. As a result, many believe that this party fails to bring any fresh political perspective to the table. Formed on the principles of ancient political systems, it appears to mirror the political structure of bygone eras.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Thursday afternoon at Chittagong University (CU) branch, during the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s (BNP) 31st discussion meeting and Iftar mahfil, held in memory of the late Vice Chairman of BNP, Abdulah Al Noman. Nasir Uddin expressed his views during the event, emphasizing that the party’s formation does not introduce any new ideologies into the political arena. Drawing comparisons with the policies established by Ziaur Rahman during the inception of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Nasir Uddin sees a direct correlation between the existing party’s policies and the newly formed one.

Nasir Uddin further commented on the party’s leadership selection, praising the speed and selectiveness of the process. However, he highlighted that there is little innovation in their foreign policies. Notably, the party’s new leader, Nahid, mentioned in an international media outlet that wealthy individuals in Bangladesh have financially backed their party. This statement raises questions about the involvement of affluent figures in shaping the country’s political landscape. It is clear that the wealthiest individuals in Bangladesh have a history of influencing political decisions, and it remains to be seen how Nahid’s party will handle this aspect.

In a separate dialogue, Chittagong City Corporation Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain recalled the inception of the BNP through a grand scheme in 1980. This event, often overlooked, involved a significant architectural project in Malaysia, where Mahathir Mohamad built a tower showcasing all the initiatives of the visionary leader, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Additionally, Begum Khaleda Zia presented a substantial gift on the twenty-third anniversary of the tower’s establishment. Reflecting on this historical context, Tareq Rahman, the founding father of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, played a pivotal role in the party’s formation.

Moving forward, the political landscape in Bangladesh is expected to witness a resurgence of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party under the leadership of Tareq Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia. This resurgence aims to uphold the fundamental rights of the Bangladeshi people and safeguard democratic principles.

Addressing the allegations of misconduct against the Awami League on student leader Shaon Kabir, BNP Chittagong Division’s co-organizational editor Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal stated that they do not seek justice for the unwarranted treatment he faced. He emphasized the importance of maintaining composure, asserting that displaying patience does not equate to weakness. The party’s association with the ruling party or any other supportive organizations does not diminish its strength, as integrity and restraint are not mutually exclusive values.

The event was presided over by Alauddin Mohsin, chairman of the CU Student Council, with moderation by Abdulah Al Noman, the general editor of the CU student council. Prominent figures such as Dr. Mahdi Amin, a senior BNP leader and council member, young political analyst Syed Al Noman, Vice-Chancellor of CU Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, Associate Professor of Administration Dr. M. Kamal Uddin, Chairman of the Nationalist Teachers’ Forum Dr. Mohammad Al-Amin, and Chief Editor S.M. Nazrul Kadir were also present at the event.

As the clock struck 2352 hours on March 13, 2025, Bangladesh Time, the event concluded on a note of anticipation for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s revival, promising to uphold the core principles of the nation and its people.
