In the border areas, Indian goods and drugs worth 2 crore taka seized
In a recent operation, members of the 49th BGB unit in Jashore have seized illegal Indian goods and narcotics worth two crore seventy-five thousand rupees from various areas near the border at Benapole. The operation was carried out on Monday (May 19) as part of an anti-drug and anti-smuggling campaign, according to a press release by the 49 BGB.
The seized items include phensedyl, alcohol, saris, blankets, three-piece suits, torchlights, betel nuts, tobacco, cigarettes, transmitters, chocolates, CNG, medicines, and cosmetics. Colonel Saiful Islam Siddique, the commander of the 49 BGB Battalion, signed the press release, stating that the operation was conducted in Benapole and Hili BOP, Benapole ICP, and Amrakhali check post areas near the border.
According to him, special intelligence and operational activities are ongoing in the border areas following a specific plan by the BGB. The operation will continue as planned, as mentioned in the press release.
Not really sure why this matters, but the BGB seems to be taking this issue seriously and carrying out operations to prevent illegal goods from entering the country. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s good to see them taking action in these areas to maintain security and prevent illegal activities.
