The additional Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police, Mofiz Uddin, revealed that an application for a 5-day remand of Tawhidul Islam was made in the murder case of Sayman Mahin in the Chandgaon Thana area. The court approved a 2-day remand after the hearing.

According to court and police sources, Sayman Mahin, a student who participated in the protest against violence in the Bahaddarhat area of Chandgaon Thana, was shot dead. His friend, Badal, filed a case in connection with the incident. Tawhidul had previously confessed to firing 28 shots alone in the Bahaddarhat area on July 18th last year. The recovered weapons used in the incident were presented to identify the supplier and instructing parties.

Furthermore, on the night of November 22nd last year, Tawhidul was arrested by the police in the Kamalnagar area of Satkhira district and brought to the Chandgaon Thana police in the city. Subsequently, it was revealed that Tawhidul alone had fired 28 shots against the students and the police. There are 12 cases, including five murders, pending against him.
