12 Bangladeshi Nationals Return to Bangladesh After Serving Jail Sentence in India
In a recent turn of events, **12 Bangladeshi nationals** have returned to Bangladesh after serving a jail sentence in India. The individuals had crossed into India through illegal routes and were apprehended by Indian immigration police. They were handed over to the Benapole Immigration Police after the completion of their sentence.
Legal Proceedings and Return to Bangladesh
Upon their return, three of the individuals are facing charges in various police stations across the country. Necessary legal actions will be taken against them, as reported by the Port Thana police. The 12 Bangladeshis had entered India through different illegal border crossings at different times. Subsequently, they were detained by the police, leading to legal charges against them.
Special Travel Permit Issued
After the completion of their respective sentences, a special travel permit was issued for their return to Bangladesh by the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata. This permit facilitated their repatriation by the Indian authorities. The individuals were transferred to the Benapole Immigration Police on Friday evening by the Indian Immigration Police, with the presence of BGB and BSF officials, as well as government officials from both countries.
Individual Profiles and Legal Issues
Among the group are individuals like Ashikur Rahman from Satkhira, Sumon Sarkar from Gazipur, Omar Faruq from Narayanganj, Mizan Sheikh from Chapainawabganj, Riazul Islam from Khulna, Belal Molla from Madaripur, Rejina Khatun from Narail, Sagari Fakir from Bagadanga, Robiul Haoladar and Moksed Haoladar from Bagerhat, Rubel Gazi from Satkhira, and Khalid Hossain from Agardariya.
Some individuals, such as Sumon Sarkar, Omar Faruq, and Riazul Islam, have multiple cases pending against them in Bangladesh. Sumon Sarkar, for instance, has four cases registered against him in various police stations. He is the son of Ramzan Ali Sarkar from Agrapur Buniyapara in Tongi Thana, Gazipur.
Immigration authorities have revealed that Sumon has cases registered against him in Jhenaidah Sadar Thana, Dhaka’s Hatirjheel Thana, Sirajganj Solonga Thana, and Gazipur Tongi Thana.
Additionally, Omar Faruq from Kansaralkandi, Raypur Thana in Narayanganj, and Muslim Sardar from Kashemnagar in Paikgachha Upazila, Khulna, have separate cases filed against them at the DMP Kotwali Thana and the Kotwali Thana.
