Two Fatalities in Separate Bakerganj Accidents
In Bakerganj, Barishal, two tragic accidents have resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a woman, and serious injuries to four others, one of whom is a four-month-old child.
The first incident occurred on Friday night at around 8 pm on the Barishal-Patuakhali highway in the Dudhkhali Mau area. A collision between a passenger bus and a motorcycle led to the severe injury of the motorcycle driver and his four-month-old child, with the driver’s wife tragically losing her life at the scene. The deceased, Hosne Ara, was the wife of Lance Corporal Mo. Bulbul, stationed at a Barishal military base.
Eyewitnesses reported that the couple was traveling on the motorcycle with their child towards the Barishal military base when the accident happened. They were heading to Gazipur from Patuakhali to catch a bus operated by Sakura Paribahan. Following the accident, the injured military personnel and his child were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the driver and assistant of the bus fled the scene.
Details of the Accidents
The officer-in-charge of the Bakerganj police station, Shafiqul Islam, confirmed that one person had died in the first accident and that the military personnel and his child were taken to Dhaka due to their critical condition. The bus involved in the accident has been impounded, and legal action will be taken accordingly.
The second incident took place on Friday night around 10 pm at a bridge in the Charadi Union of Bakerganj. A collision between a motorcycle and a tom-tom resulted in the death of a young man named Faisal (18). Faisal, a student in his second year of HSC at Jahangir Hossain Mollah College in Bakerganj, was the son of Abdul Kuddus from the Garuria Union of Bakerganj.
Two other young men, Rakib and Mushfiq, were also injured in the second accident and have been admitted to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for treatment, as confirmed by the deceased’s relative, Syedur Rahman.
Medical Procedures and Police Involvement
The deceased have been taken to the mortuary of Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations, and the police have been informed of the incidents for further investigation.
