Government Allocates 150 Crore Taka for Treatment of Injured in July Uprising

In a significant move, the government has allocated 150 crore taka for the treatment of those injured during the July uprising. This allocation comes from the budget of the fiscal year 2024-2025, as revealed in a letter from the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

Breakdown of Allocated Funds

Under the unexpected expenditure management account of the Ministry of Finance, the budget for ‘Assistance for the families of martyrs and treatment of the injured in the July uprising’ has been increased from 232 crore 60 lakh taka to 150 crore taka. The funds will be distributed based on the severity of injuries, with category ‘A’ individuals receiving 2 lakh taka each, totaling 20 crore taka.

Category ‘B’ will receive 1 lakh taka per person, with 30 crore taka allocated for 3,000 individuals. For category ‘C’, 40 crore taka will be distributed among 4,000 people at 1 lakh taka per person. Category ‘D’ individuals will receive 50 thousand taka each, with a total of 35 crore taka for 7,000 beneficiaries. Additionally, 25 crore taka has been allocated for advisory services for the injured, both locally and abroad.

The allocated 150 crore taka will be disbursed by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs using proper financial procedures. The funds will be transferred through Sonali Bank PLC, Ramna Corporate Branch, following all financial regulations.
