An armed robber was apprehended by the police in Nilkhet Chowrasta, Bandarban. The suspect, Vikachan Mia, was captured during a planned robbery attempt in the early hours of Monday in the Sonaichhari Union area of Lamapara, located in the upazila of Naikhongchari. The arrest took place after the police received information about a group of robbers preparing to commit a robbery in the tobacco fields of Kabir Hossain, a resident of the area.

Vikachan Mia, a resident of the Panchdona area of Narshingdi Sadar, is currently residing in a rented house in the Panjakhana area of Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar. His criminal activities were brought to a halt when the Devil Hunt Team of Naikhongchari Police Station launched an operation in the area based on intelligence gathered from the scene of the planned robbery.

The police presence in the area led to the arrest of Vikachan Mia, despite other members of the robber gang managing to evade capture. During the arrest, a one-shooter gun and fresh bullets of a rifle were recovered from Mia. Subsequently, he was taken into custody and brought to Naikhongchari Police Station for further legal proceedings.

To confirm the authenticity of the incident, Masrurul Haque, the Officer-in-Charge of Naikhongchari Police Station, stated that Vikachan Mia was apprehended with weapons during a robbery attempt, and the Devil Hunt Team of the police station was responsible for his capture. Two cases have been filed against him in connection with the incident.

On Tuesday, Vikachan Mia was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Bandarban, where the Judicial Magistrate, Taufiqul Islam, directed that he be sent to jail.
