In a concerning development, the Border Security Force (BSF) of India has erected a fence on the zero line at the Dahagram border in Lalmonirhat without informing the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). According to local sources, members of the BSF from the Karun camp of the Raninagar Battalion in Cooch Behar district of West Bengal, India, disregarded international border laws and erected the fence at the very end of the 750 yards of the zero line. Nearly 30-35 construction workers, using iron angles prepared in the camp, built a fence approximately 4 feet high on the zero line.
Local residents witnessed the construction activities at the end of the 750 yards of the zero line and reported the incident to the BGB. Members of the Panbari and Dahagram camps of the Rangpur 51 BGB battalion went to the site and obstructed the construction of the fence. Despite temporarily halting construction work, several hundred BSF members and locals continued the fence construction work later on.
