Dhaka Road Accident: Tragedy Strikes Two Lives
Tragedy struck in the streets of Dhaka as a fatal road accident claimed the lives of two individuals, including a student. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at around 2:30 PM near Kuril, with another fatal accident happening the following night in Dholaipar. The victims were identified as Akikul Islam Mondal, a van driver, and Arafat Tajib Choyon, a student at City College.
Witness Account: An Unexpected Turn of Events
According to eyewitnesses, Akikul was driving his van across the flyover when a bus collided with his vehicle, causing the van to veer off the road and plummet below. The impact was severe, resulting in Akikul being rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital before being transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital due to the critical nature of his injuries. Despite efforts to save him, Akikul succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Family Tragedy: Heartbreaking Loss
Akikul’s niece, Rokeya Akter, shared that he had recently moved to Kuril with his wife and three children. They were in the process of relocating to Vatara when the accident occurred. The family was left devastated by the sudden loss of Akikul, a loving husband and father.
Arafat, on the other hand, hailed from Kishoreganj’s Kuliyarchar Upazila and was a first-year student at City College. His uncle, Kamal Hossain, recounted how Arafat had gone out with a friend on Monday night for a motorcycle ride. Tragically, their evening took a fatal turn when they collided with a truck near Dholaipar Dental Hospital.
Investigation and Closure
Law enforcement officials swiftly responded to the scene of the accident, confirming the tragic deaths of Akikul and Arafat. The truck involved in the incident was seized, but the driver managed to flee the scene. A case of wrongful death has been filed in connection with the accident.
