A Tragic Incident: Bike Rider Fatality in Kaliganj Trolley Collision

In a heartbreaking turn of events in Satkhira’s Kaliganj, a young man named Ali Akbar (17) lost his life after a collision with a sand-laden trolley. Two others were also injured in the separate incident. The incident took place on Monday (January 27) around 11 am on the Kalikapur-Baliadanga road.

Ali Akbar hailed from Kalikapur village, being the son of Ayub Ali. Eyewitnesses reported that Abdul Rahman, an office assistant at the Kalikapur Government Primary School, was riding a motorcycle with his wife, Shirina Parveen, to the education office when they collided with a van coming from the opposite direction near the Kalikapur Unity Agricultural Development Cooperative Society. The couple sustained serious injuries and were rescued to the Shyamnagar Upazila Health Complex in an ambulance. Unfortunately, Ali Akbar, Ayub Ali’s son from Kalikapur village, met his demise when a sand-laden trolley collided with the motorcycle he was riding, causing the accident just 500 meters down the road.

Local residents detained the sand-laden trolley and its driver, Anisur Rahman, in the aftermath of the incident, followed by a community dialogue leading to their release. Officer-in-Charge Hafizur Rahman of the Kaliganj Police Station has confirmed the details of the incident.

The tragic loss of Ali Akbar, a laborer in the brickfield industry, has left the community in mourning. The local authorities are investigating the matter further to ensure justice is served.
