Restoring Democracy: Government’s Main Responsibility – Manju
In the bustling city of Khulna, former Member of Parliament and Vice-Chairman of Khulna Metropolitan BNP, Nazrul Islam Manju, has made a bold statement. He highlighted how, over the past 15 years, the fascist Awami League government, in collaboration with opposition party workers, has subjected the people to torture and killings through false cases, displacing 50 million individuals and violating their rights. The question arises, what are the people’s expectations from the government? It is the government’s primary responsibility to restore democracy.
On Saturday, in the 20th ward of Sona Danga Thana in Khulna, during a winter clothing distribution event for the needy and vulnerable in Shekhpara Bazar, Jamia Mosque courtyard, Mr. Manju expressed his views as the chief guest.
Challenges Faced by The Current Government
On Sunday, in commemoration of the 89th birth anniversary of the Great Freedom Fighter, founding Chairman of BNP, and former President, Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam, the winter clothing distribution event was organized.
During the event, Mr. Manju further stated that the Awami League, through their corruption and looting, has destroyed the economy. In the upcoming year, without facing any challenges, the current government has decided to increase taxes and tariffs, which will further burden the people. Urging the interim government to immediately withdraw the decision to impose taxes and VAT on the people, he emphasized the need to move forward in distributing winter clothing among the distressed and vulnerable in all strata and professions of society.
Support From Dignitaries in the Community
The winter clothing distribution event received special support from former Mayor, editor, and freedom fighter Mr. Moniruzzaman Moni, in collaboration with the overall cooperation of the former Vice President of Khulna Metropolitan BNP, Ikbal Hossain Khokon.
Present at the event were notable individuals such as Nazrul Islam Babu, Asadujjaman Murad, Shamsujjaman Chanchal, Akram Hossain Khokon, Sheikh Jamirul Islam Jamil, Ishak Talukdar, Omar Farooq, Robiul Islam Robi, Mahiujjaman Taj, Ikbal Hossain, Nahid Morol, Liton Patwari, Shakil Ahmed, Ohab Sharif, Helal Choudhury, Mustafa Jamon Mintu, Sultan Mahmud Sumon, Parvez Morol, AR Rahman, Masud Rana, Shariful Islam, Hamidur Rahman, Shamim Reza, Islam Molla, and many other esteemed personalities of the area.
As we reflect on the words of Mr. Manju and the actions taken in the community, it is evident that the restoration of democracy and the government’s commitment to its citizens remain crucial aspects of governance. The responsibility lies not just with the leaders but with each individual to uphold the values of democracy and ensure the well-being of all members of society. Through collective efforts and unwavering dedication, we can strive towards a future where democracy thrives, and the rights of the people are protected.
