Journalist Mizanur Rahman Sohel Wins Global Star Award
Journalist Mizanur Rahman Sohel, the head of the online division of the daily Bhorer Kagoj, has been honored with the ‘Global Star Award 2024’ for his exceptional contribution to online journalism.
The prestigious award ceremony took place on Friday (January 17) at a five-star hotel in the capital, where he received the accolade from former judge of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Faisal Mahmud Faiz.
Recognition and Prestige
The Global Star Communication organized the Season 2 Awards ceremony in 2023, where awards were presented for the best films, television dramas, OTT, music, dance, and journalism. Notable personalities like Bangladeshi film actress Anwara, subcontinent’s renowned singer Ferdous Ara, and NTV director Nur Uddin Ahmed were also honored with the Global Star Award for their lifetime achievements.
The jury board responsible for selecting the winners included former Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Syed Margub Morshed, actress Rojina, ATN Bangla advisor Tashik Ahmed, President of the Reporters Unity of Bangladesh (TRUB) Salam Mahmud, choreographer Ivan Shahriar Sohag, Chairman of Global Star Communication Mashayeed Rahman Mun, and entertainment journalist Masid Ron.

Mizanur Rahman Sohel has been involved in journalism for more than two decades. He took over as the head of the online division of Bhorer Kagoj in 2023. Prior to this, he served as the head of the online division of Jugantor for seven years. Under his leadership, Jugantor Online saw rapid growth in rank and revenue. He has been actively involved in extensive discussions about the country’s first-line online news media, newspapers, and the online and digital divisions of television under the flagship organization of the ‘Online Editors Alliance.’
In addition to journalism, Mizanur Rahman Sohel has published 27 books on self-improvement, branding and marketing, education, and information technology.
