ICC Announces Test and One-Day International Teams of the Year, No Bangladeshi Player Included

In a recent announcement, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the Test and One-Day International teams of the year for 2024. Surprisingly, no Bangladeshi player has made it into either team.

No Bangladeshi Players in Test and One-Day International Teams

Bangladeshi cricketers have been left out of both the Test and One-Day International teams. Other countries that have no representation in the Test team include Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, Afghanistan, and Ireland. England leads with 4 players, followed by India with 3, New Zealand with 2, and Australia and Sri Lanka with 1 player each. Similarly, in the One-Day International team, no Bangladeshi players made the cut, with Sri Lanka having the highest representation. Afghanistan and Pakistan have 3 players each, while West Indies has 1 player.

Top Performers in Test Team

Among the standout performers in the Test team is India’s emerging star, Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has amassed 1478 runs at an average of 54.74 in the past year. In the opening position, he is joined by England’s Ben Duckett, who scored 1149 runs at an average of 37.06. The number three spot goes to Kane Williamson, who despite injuries, managed to score 1013 runs at an average of 59.58.

Expert Commentary and Team Captains

The Test team’s leadership has been entrusted to Australian Pat Cummins, who led his team to victories against West Indies, New Zealand, and India last year. He had a stellar performance with 37 wickets at an average of 24.02 and also contributed with the bat, scoring 306 runs at an average of 23.53. As for the One-Day International team, the captaincy goes to Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka, who scored 605 runs at an average of 50.2 in the past year.

One-Day International Team Highlights

In the One-Day International team, Pakistan’s Saif Ayub secures the opening position, having scored 515 runs in 9 matches. His partner, Rahmanullah Gurbaz from Afghanistan, scored 531 runs in 11 matches. Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka clinched the number three spot, scoring 694 runs in 12 matches.

Relatable Touch

As a cricket enthusiast myself, it’s disheartening to see no Bangladeshi players included in the ICC Test and One-Day International teams of the year. However, it’s a great opportunity to celebrate the outstanding performances of players from other nations who have excelled in the sport. This serves as a reminder of the fierce competition and talent that exists in the cricketing world, pushing players to strive for excellence and make their mark on the international stage.
