Reunion of Former Students of 37 Years for a Guinness World Record Attempt

In a heartwarming display of nostalgia and unity, former students of Ibn-e-Taimiya School and College in Comilla gathered for a reunion after 37 years. This reunion, held at Comilla’s Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutt Stadium, aimed to break the Guinness World Record for the largest reunion ever organized globally. The event took place on Friday, January 10, as thousands of alumni came together to reminisce about their shared past.

The Gathering of Old Friends

Amidst the sea of faces at Comilla Stadium, one could see former students proudly displaying their designated cards and lining up eagerly to enter the venue. Many sported custom t-shirts and traditional Punjabi attire, while some donned caps as a nod to their youthful days. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, chatter, and the joy of reuniting with long-lost friends.

A Diverse and Enthusiastic Crowd

The event was graced by over a hundred past and present teachers of the institution, along with alumni from various universities, company owners, high-ranking officials from secretariats and ministries, and dedicated individuals serving important roles in the country. Even those residing abroad joined the festivities through video messages, highlighting the global reach and impact of the reunion.

A Record-Breaking Endeavor

Mr. M. Shafiqul Alam Helal, the President of Ibn-e-Taimiya School and College, inaugurated the event with a vision to set a new Guinness World Record. With over six thousand former students participating in this reunion, the organizers aimed to surpass the current record held by Vasireddy Venkatadri Institute of Technology in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India, where 4,268 alumni gathered on December 24, 2017. Dr. Alamgir Hossain Ripon, the chief organizer of the reunion, led the proceedings, which included sports competitions, cultural performances, and a grand concert.

As the echoes of laughter and camaraderie filled the stadium, it was evident that this reunion was more than just a gathering—it was a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship and shared memories that transcend time and distance. The Ibn-e-Taimiya School and College alumni showcased the power of unity and nostalgia, proving that some connections truly last a lifetime.
