Students Ready for Sunday Long March at Shahbag
Dhaka: Medical Assistant Training School (MATS) students from Shahbag will be taking part in a long march this Sunday to demand their rights for the fourth time. This announcement comes after a notice was released on Saturday by the MATS Student Unity Council.
According to the notice, all diploma doctors, professionals, job seekers, interns, and regular students across the country have been informed that a long march program will be announced on Sunday at 10 am in Shahbag, following the news conference on February 4.
Furthermore, it has been stated that everyone should prepare for a minimum of two days from their respective locations and join the long march in groups to realize their four demands.
Their four demands include:
1. Immediate recruitment to vacant positions at grade ten
2. Creation of new positions in public or private sectors
3. Revision of course curriculum, renaming the institution as a Medical Institute
4. Abolishment of the proposed ‘Alide-Health Professional Board’, establishment of an independent ‘Medical Education Board of Bangladesh’, and provision of opportunities for higher education in clinical subjects approved by international standards and BM&DC.
This long march comes after MATS students protested at Shahbag on January 22 with the same demands.
