He was allegedly targeted by a youth league leader named Ashik, a member of the union’s youth league and the son of Sohrab Hossain.

Shahin, who ran a small shop, was accosted by Ashik and his associates, who demanded payment. When Shahin refused, Ashik allegedly opened fire, critically injuring him. Shahin was rushed to Pangu Hospital in Dhaka for urgent medical treatment.
